Entry Level Maths

Why should I do the course?

  • Learn at your own pace in a friendly and relaxed environment
  • Gain confidence
  • Improve your skills
  • Gain qualifications

We use Maths skills every day in work, study and everyday life.

You may wish to improve your skills in general, or gain a qualification - whatever the level - you can improve your prospects in work or study.

What will I be studying?

  • Add, subtract and multiply figures including money
  • Calculate sales discounts and check your shopping and utility bills
  • Work with metric measures, temperature and shapes
  • Find out how to read simple tables, graphs and show information clearly

How long will the course last?

Classes are flexible and run throughout the year. You can join at the start of term or at each half term.

Are there any entry requirements?

Numeracy classes are open to everyone - you do not need any previous qualifications or experience. All we ask is that you join in and have fun.

What are classes like?

Learning is at your own pace, supported by the class teacher and additional support workers. You will usually be in a class of 7-8 others with similar learning needs. You could be working as a whole class, in small groups, in pairs or on your own.

What next?

What you do next is up to you. Employers consider Maths skills to be essential in the workplace. You can progress through the levels to a qualification equivalent to a GCSE, or simply apply the skills you learn to work or study.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed continually through development of an individual learning plan. Qualifications are obtained by completing a short assessment, in your own time, in class, at the right level for you.

How much will it cost?

There is no fee for Adult Numeracy classes.
