We are delighted to share the news that our community learning programme, delivered by Derby College Group, will be re-starting in September.

The last year has presented different challenges to us all. Our St Marks Rd nursery stayed open throughout all the lockdowns, but we have missed working with our adult learners. However you have spent the last year or so, our adult learning courses will offer opportunities to learn new skills or refresh existing ones, meet new people, increase self-confidence, and improve your health and wellbeing.

We have all become much more aware of the support that our school-aged children need with their learning, and it can sometimes be daunting. Our ‘Help yourself - Help your child’ and ‘Supporting Home Learning’ courses will improve your skills and confidence in this area. If you simply want to focus on your own learning, we have various levels of English and maths courses on offer, from refreshers to qualifications.

Scared of technology? These days many aspects of our lives are managed online, from shopping to medical appointments to virtual meetings. ‘Essential digital skills’ will give you the tools to deal with a wide range of situations in life and at work, and deal with basic device problems.

If you’re feeling a little world-weary or fed-up, need to put your own health front and centre in your daily life or re-discover your strengths, our ‘Wellbeing’ and ‘Confidence Building’ courses may be for you. These courses will increase your own wellbeing, better enabling you to cope with the pressures of everyday life.

Looking to get into work or change direction? We will be running ‘Introduction to working with food’, which will give you an insight into an industry that is currently desperate for staff. Our ‘Customer service’ course will focus on skills needed by most employees across all sorts of industries.

Courses will be run in small groups at our purpose-built centre at St Marks Rd, Derwent. We are a short walk from Derby city centre with good access to public transport, and there is free parking available within one minute’s walk of the centre.

Interested? Come to our open day, there will be opportunities to meet the tutors, discuss the courses and see the learning environment. If there are other areas of learning that you might be interested in, give us a call, we are always open to ideas for different courses.

Our next open day is Tuesday 6th July, from 9.30am. Please call us on 01332 372245 or contact us through the website to let us know you will be attending.
