Childcare to Suit Your Needs

We know childcare costs are a significant proportion of family spending, so we want to make sure that payment is as simple as possible. From creating payment plans to ease cash flow, or helping you secure funding, our Derby nursery prices and childcare plans can be adapted to your family’s needs.

Derwent Stepping Stones came into existence after a group of women were struggling to find local, flexible and affordable childcare, so we understand that every family is different and there’s no one size fits all approach to childcare. We speak to every family individually to assess their childcare needs and, on that basis, calculate childcare and nursery fees with either an average weekly or monthly payment plan. We will also help you to access Government funding towards childcare cost where applicable.

When you sign up for a place at one of our Derby childcare settings, you will be given a contract and an annex document (annex 1). These will indicate the sessions you have booked and which of these sessions are funded and which are chargeable, both during term time and in holidays. All nursery fees will exclude baby formula, nappies, pull-ups and wipes.

Our childcare and nursery fees are based on sessions booked and not attendance. Refunds and credits will not be given for days where a child does not attend due to sickness or holiday, and we do not allow swapping of days unless it is permanent and there is availability.

For further information regarding our childcare and nursery fees, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to answer any further questions you might have.

Making Payment

All childcare and nursery fees must be paid in advance, but you can make payments by cash or card at Reception, by standing order directly to our bank account or by card over the phone. If fees are not paid in advance, a member of the Finance team will contact you, in person or by telephone. If there is no response to this reminder within four days, notice of termination of your child(ren)’s place(s) will be given and legal action may be taken to recover the outstanding balance. Additional sessions will not be provided in cases where accounts are not up to date.

Meal Costs

All of our wonderful Derby nursery settings can provide delicious meals for a small cost which will be added to your nursery fees. This cost will apply for all funded sessions where breakfast, lunch or tea are served, as government funding does not cover the cost of meals or other consumables. We do, however, provide drinks and snacks at no extra cost, and sessions where meals are not served (and so free of a meal charge) are available. Meal charges are also not applied if 2 weeks’ notice of cancellation is given.

Funding

Full day-care nursery fees and out of school childcare may be paid for directly by parents, through voucher schemes and through tax free childcare. We also provide care funded by Care to Learn, Jobcentre + and other agencies. If you aren’t sure of the funding options that may be available to you at our Derby nursery settings, you can find further information about support with childcare costs on our funding page. We are more than happy to help you access any financial support or help you discover the funding options that may be available to you.
